This
Friday's talk focused on the importance of Tawakkul (Reliance on
Allah) based on the Quranic verse: God
is our sufficiency and He is the Best of Patrons [III: 173] Shaykh
Achmad encouraged the youth to embrace the principle of Tawakkul in
their lives as they grapple with tough career choices on completion of
their studies. Referring to Shaykh Amin al Kurdi's definition of
Tawakkul, he dispelled the common misconception that Tawakkul was a
licence to complacency and inaction. Tawakkul is an endeavour of the
heart and not of the body. Therefore
genuine Tawakkul entails the inward state of placing one's trust in
Allah, while continuing to strive through outward practice. Then, to
give Shukr when a desired outcome is achieved and to Sabr if this is
withheld. To
realise true Tawakkul in one's life the Shaykh advised as follows:
-
Remember the
Allah is Aleem (All-Knowing)
-
Know that
Allah is Qadir (All-Powerful)
-
Remember
that Allah is not forgetful nor does He ever succumb to sleep
-
Know that He
never breaks His promise
-
Know
that His Mercy and Bounties are endless.
Shaykh Achmad
made dua that we all be blessed with simplicity and correctness in our
Tawakkul in accordance with the comforting words of the Messenger of
God, may peace and blessings be upon him, who had said:
We're you to
rely on God as He rightly should be relied on, He would provide for
you as He provides for the birds which go off hungry in the morning
and return full in the evening.
